Grimsby Community Energy – Community Benefit Fund

Supporting grassroots environmental action across North East Lincolnshire

💡 What is the Community Benefit Fund?

The Grimsby Community Energy (GCE) Community Benefit Fund offers small grants to individuals, community groups and not-for-profit organisations delivering local projects that benefit the environment.

Funded from the profits of GCE’s renewable energy installations, this fund helps turn good ideas into real community impact — tackling emissions, promoting sustainability, and greening our neighbourhoods.

✅ What We Fund

We’re looking for projects that do one or more of the following:

• 🌍 Reduce greenhouse gas emissions

• 🌱 Increase the green footprint of North East Lincolnshire

• 🔋 Promote energy-saving or sustainable energy solutions

• 🧼 Support greening of local homes, streets or public spaces

• 🤝 Deliver clear environmental benefits for the community

Examples might include:
♻️ Environmental workshops, 🌻 community growing projects, 💡 home energy advice sessions, 🛠️ equipment to reduce waste or power usage, or small-scale trial ideas.

💷 Grant Amounts

• You can apply for £250 – £1,000

• 2025 Total funding pot: £ – NOW CLOSED

• Smaller grants are encouraged to help us support more projects

• Match funding is not required, but welcomed

📍 Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications from:

• Individuals active in the community

• Community and voluntary groups

• Not-for-profit organisations

• Charities, cooperatives and CICs

All projects must benefit the North East Lincolnshire area.

📅 When to Apply

• We accept applications on a rolling basis

• Apply as soon as possible — the fund will close when fully allocated

• You’ll receive a decision within 2–4 weeks of submission

📝 What You’ll Need

• Description of your activity/event and how it helps the environment

• A simple project budget

• Governing document (if you’re an organisation)

• Latest accounts or explanation

• Bank details for payment

📄 If successful, you’ll submit a short end-of-project report within 28 days of completion.
