Grimsby Community Energy’s Share Offer boosted by £80,000 Equity Match Investment from Co-operatives UK’s Community Shares Booster Fund

Grimsby Community Energy are proud to announce that our community share offer has been awarded an £80,000 equity match investment from Co-operatives UK’s Community Shares Booster Fund. This significant investment is a welcome boost to our campaign, which aims to raise a minimum of £160,000. The equity match investment from the Booster Fund is crucial in helping us reach our target.

We are raising investment to install solar PV systems at St Andrew’s Hospice, CATCH, and E-Factor’s St James House. This initiative not only aims to support local organisations by reducing their energy costs but also contributes to significant environmental benefits. We are targeting an annual interest rate of 5%, making this an attractive investment opportunity for the community.

Vicky Dunn, Managing Director of Grimsby Community Energy said “We are delighted to have been awarded this £80,000 investment from Co-Operatives UK, it is now more than ever we need the support of local people to help us raise the minimum investment of £160,000 so that we can receive this additional funding. This funding will allow us to reach our goal of supporting local organisations such as St Andrew’s Hospice who’s vital work in the community helps so many people at a critical point in their lives. By installing Solar PV at their main campus, we will dramatically reduce their energy costs, allowing them to use their funding to support local families directly at their time of need”.

The Booster Fund’s support and confidence in our share offer underscore our credibility as a worthy community venture. This equity match investment follows a £9,500 development grant that we also received from the Booster Fund to help us prepare for our share offer and achieve the prestigious Community Shares Standard Mark.

The Community Shares Booster Fund is delivered by Co-operatives UK in partnership with Locality, the Plunkett Foundation, Community Shares ICOF, and Co-operative and Community Finance. It is funded by Power to Change and Access – the Foundation for Social Investment.
